Cinnamon Leaf – Cinnamomum zeylanicum
Cinnamon is a wonderful oil that seems to wrap a warm blanket around the senses with an earthy aroma that is intensely spicy. It is an especially useful oil to use for exhausted states and strengthens when feelings of weakness overwhelm the user. The warming nature of the oil can help the user when they are suffering from feelings of emotional coldness. Also, of great value when someone is going through a period of isolation by reducing tension and fear.
An oil that uses its warm nature to be of assistance when suffering from sexual problems. It is also said to induce menstruation and stimulate contractions during childbirth. So, for this reason, it should never be used during pregnancy until the full term has been reached when it can then be of value.
Said to be a useful expectorant easing coughs and colds. The warming nature of the oil makes it soothing for most conditions arising from cold situations. Cinnamon leaf is a natural antiseptic oil. This makes another good reason for using it in a Christmas burning blend, where it will create a festive atmosphere while cleansing the room.  Do remember it’s one of our stronger oils and should be used in lower dilutions than normal, or the aroma could overpower any oil it is blended with.
Cinnamon oil is extracted from the buds and bark and contains a large proportion of Cinnamic Aldehyde which often causes skin sensitisation so please do use on the skin with caution avoiding use on broken skin and DO NOT USE IN PREGNANCY.
